SXSW Music returns to the Contemporary Austin as part of Tom Sachs: Boombox Retrospective 1999-2015. For three days, some of the most acclaimed and influential DJs and producers in electronic and hip-hop music-selected by SXSW music and artist Tom Sachs will use the functional, boombox-inspired sculptures in the artist's immersive installation as their instruments to create music.

This exhibition is a natural fit for collaboration with SXSW as many of the works on view incorporate boomboxes and other sound systems controlled by a central "dj booth," which is also a work of art. Full list of SXSW-related programs at The Contemporary.

Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery 1137 W 6th St. Austin, TX 78703 512-478-4440

Rob Prior, a famous comic illustrator who has done work with Marvel, DC Comics and album covers for the likes of Iron Maiden and Blue Oyster Cult, is coming to Austin during SXSW and will have a pop up exhibit at the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery. Around 20-25 original works of art will be on display and available for sale. During SXSW, he will also be popping up around town at different music venues, painting live while musicians perform. Those works will also be available for purchase at the gallery. View video of Rob Prior.
