It's time to get into the holiday spirit! Head to downtown Austin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28 for the festive Chuy's Children Giving to Children Christmas Parade.

Chuys Parade

An Austin tradition, the free parade was established by Chuy's restaurants in 1989 and includes floats, marching bands, kids dance teams, classic cars and large inflatable characters, all with the stately Texas Capitol as a backdrop.

The event is a great way to teach your kids about the importance of giving to those less fortunate as parade attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy (or several) to donate to Operation Blue Santa. At a designated time, the parade pauses and Santas helpers will collect the gifts from the children along the route for the charity. The parade goes south on Congress Avenue from 11th Street (just south of the Capitol) to the Congress Avenue Bridge and lasts about an hour.
