So you're visiting ATX and curious about the September happenings in the LGBTQ community. You've picked a great month-- for most large cities, June is considered PRIDE Month; however, in Austin we're excited to celebrate our PRIDE in September. Here are a few ways to participate in the celebrations:

  • aGLIFF- Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival September 10-14 This year celebrates more than 27 years of programming for the Austin community. Get a badge to check out all of the showings at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar and the State Theatre.

  • Austin PRIDE Week September 13 - 21 There are a ton of great events during this years PRIDE Celebration at Fiesta Gardens. If you're looking for an la carte experience, I'd recommend checking out the following smaller events:

  • Big Gay Brunch Saturday, September 13 Brunching is a staple in Austin. A must-do. The Big Gay Brunch is held at 219 West from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and features a full brunch menu, $2 mimosas and amazing beats on the rooftop deck. Arrive early to beat the crowd (first come, first sat) and stay late to people watch.

  • Way Gay Quote-a-Long Wednesday, September 17 The gays are taking over an Austin landmark, the Alamo Drafthouse, for a fun evening of popular quotes from the movie Clueless. Get ready to say all of your favorite lines together during the film, plus there will be props to help pretend that we traveled back to 1995. AS IF!

  • PRIDE Parade Saturday, September 20 Join Austinites as they take to the streets to celebrate PRIDE and equality. The evening parade starts at 8 p.m., runs down Congress Avenue and concludes in the Warehouse District (on 4th between Lavaca and Colorado Streets). Id suggest getting to a rooftop on 4th Street early to get the perfect view. The Market Austin or The Hangar Lounge are perfect options.

  • HRC Family Pool Party + Picnic Sunday, September 21 If you're looking to cool-off and enjoy family-friendly fun, you must check out the party at Deep Eddy pool. The clear spring water will be refreshing on your Sunday afternoon.

I hope you have a fabulous stay in Austin!
