The setting for our Second Annual Bands for Lands festival is at Neighbor’s Kitchen and Yard. Their outdoor stage rests on the green banks of the Colorado River in historic downtown Bastrop and Neighbor’s has partnered with us this year to provide a portion of the evening’s revenue to Pines & Prairies Land Trust. We will promote the event all summer in local print media, on social media and with giveaways and a signature cocktail served throughout the month of October. We are excited to feature the incredible local talent of The Peterson Brothers, Chubby Knuckle Choir and Mark Jungers, along with Austin area Don Chani and teen blues sensation Shelby Cheyenne. Our headliner is the Chris Duarte Group. Chris is currently touring but is excited to be a part of the event. We are honored that all of the artists agreed to significantly discounted fees in support of our mission. The Second Annual Bands for Lands festival and fundraiser will be on October 22, from 3p-11p, with proceeds going to benefit Pines & Prairies Land Trust.
Pines and Prairies Land Trust is celebrating its 15th year as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The founding members created the Land Trust as a tool to protect land in their communities and throughout its 15 year history PPLT has grown to protect natural and cultural resources throughout a five county region including Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette, Lee and eastern Travis Counties. PPLT practices preservation and promotes sustainable agriculture by holding over 1000 acres of conservation easements for farmers and other landowners and by holding over 1000 acres in preserves and wildlife refuges in the region it serves. Besides direct land conservation, PPLT promotes education by providing speakers for civic and business groups, hosting workshops, providing free nature lessons for kids, and by participating in conferences, partnering with area colleges and universities, environmental groups and other non-profit organizations. The mission of Pines and Prairies Land Trust is to protect natural and cultural resources and promote sustainable agriculture through education and preservation of open space in Central Texas.
