It has been an exciting endeavour to develop this event while studying at the University of Texas at Austin's Butler School of Music. I came to Austin in August of 2015 with the goal set in mind to glean what I could from the culture of one of the United States' more musically inclined cities. While asking myself what it takes to facilitate a community of musicians and musical supporters, and after a year of exploring Austin, finding small jobs to take a break from practicing, volunteering at concerts, and meeting other musicians, the opportunity to present a benefit concert for a local cause came to mind.

One of the jobs that I have held in Austin while studying has been at Cornucopia Popcorn as a "popcorn guru", a fancy term for a server of some of the finest popcorn known to Texas. I have volunteered at some of the Austin Classical Guitar concerts, one of which was a wine and cheese tasting event. I was also invited to attend an open mic event where I was introduced to a local band, Lady Jams. UT Austin has tons of events for students, one of which was an entrepreneurial brewers club. The pieces fell together all by themselves to display the vision of a benefit concert for a local cause with local businesses, which led to an Oktoberfest/Breast Cancer Awareness collaboration between Hops & Grain Brewery and the Breast Cancer Resource Center.

Now, Cornucopia Popcorn, Austin Classical Guitar, and Lady Jams are all partnering with me in presenting a benefit concert for the Breast Cancer Resource Center at Hops & Grain Brewery. I hope that you can join us in cultivating a community of support for the BCRC, as well as enjoying some awesome jams, popcorn, and beer!
