Nine Yawanawá tribe members are journeying from their home in the remote Amazon forest of Acre, Brazil, to the U.S. to sing ancestral songs and share their rich culture to save their way of life, their language and their spiritual heritage from extinction. Celebrate one of the most beautiful cultures of the Brazilian Amazon. Hear songs so ancient that your very DNA will vibrate with the inherent recognition of sacred music from the depths of the forest. Be a part of their touching journey to save the beauty and wisdom of their ancestral teachings, passed down orally for countless generations. Join us this October 7 at a special concert at Unity Church of the Hills as we welcome Indigenous Celebration, and are immersed in the culture and music of the Yawanawa. Items created by tribe members will be available for purchase. All funds benefit the preservation of this culture.

Where the proceeds from the fundraiser goes:

A generational gap exists in the Yawanawá (as in many tribes), where the youth no longer speak their ancestral tongue, opting to speak Portuguese instead, thus losing their connection with their cultural heritage and spiritual lineage.

Funds raised by the Tour will go towards establishing the Traditional School of Mutum (TSM) in the Mutum Village of Acre, Brazil for Yawanawá children ages 7-14. The TSM will provide food, lodging and school supplies to children learning their native Yawanawá language, traditional legends, ancestral spiritual practices and sacred plant knowledge, as passed down orally from generation to generation.

Please visit the following link to learn more about their culture, from heart felt stories, to videos of song, ceremony, wildlife in the rainforest and more.
