Yonatan Gat is a guitarist and composer based in New York. His solo work was featured in the New York Times, Pitchfork, Vice, The New Yorker, People Magazine and more. In 2013 he was awarded “Best Guitarist in New York� by the Village Voice.




His music draws from psychedelic punk, along with African, South American and Middle Eastern music and beats. Gat's composition method champions wild, stream-of-consciousness improvisation. His music was released by Drag City Records and Joyful Noise Recordings.




Over the years, he has played over 1,500 concerts in 5 continents and 50 countries in venues such as Webster Hall and Bowery Ballroom (NYC), Paramount (Seattle), Fonda Theatre (Los Angeles); and festivals such as Primavera (Spain), Øya (Norway), All Tomorrow’s Parties (UK), Electric Picnic (Ireland), OFF Festival (Poland) and Golden Plains (Australia).




Gat first came to prominence in 2006 as the guitarist and founder of Monotonix, which was hailed by Spin Magazine as "the most exciting live band in rock’n’roll.� He has gone on to share the stage with bands such as Pavement, Faith No More, Thee Oh Sees, Sun Ra Arkestra, Silver Jews, Ty Segall and many others. His live band consists of frequent collaborators Sergio Sayeg (bass) and Gal Lazer (drums).
