Austin CVB Appoints New Convention Services Manager
The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (Austin CVB) announces the hire of Nickie Morgan, CMP, as Convention Services Manager. In this new position, Morgan assists convention planners with meetings and event preparation. She also works closely with local suppliers and vendors to ensure that convention clients have access to necessary resources and services. (more)

Austin CVB Appoints New Director of Marketing Communications
The Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the hiring of Jennifer Walker as the Bureau’s new Director of Marketing Communications. In this position, Walker oversees Austin CVB’s public relations, communications and marketing strategies, as well as acting as point person for agencies of record. She also serves as the Bureau’s spokesperson to regional and national media. (more)
GPS Ranger Invites Visitors to Tour Austin Using Cutting-Edge Technology
The Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has teamed up with locally-based BarZ Adventures (BarZ) to offer visitors a new way to discover the city. The GPS Ranger™, BarZ’s first destination tour product, introduces sightseers to Austin’s historical and cultural attractions with a walking tour piloted by Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. The audio and video tour, which is narrated by KXAN News Anchor Michelle Valles, guides visitors to more than two dozen points of interest, providing a comprehensive overview to Texas’ Capital City and the Live Music Capital of the World®. An American Sign Language tour is also offered, increasing the city’s accessibility to the deaf and hard of hearing. (more)

Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau Releases New CD
The Austin Music Office, a division of Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, unveils its newest CD, “Austin Music, Volume 7,” at a release party on February 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the Austin Visitor Center, 209 E. Sixth St. The 14-song compilation album features diverse genres that define Austin’s musical style including the funky and soulful LZ Love, who performs at the event, and the Americana style of the Band of Heathens, named “Best New Band of the Year 2007” at the Austin Music Awards. In addition to the music, attendees can also enjoy complimentary refreshments. (more)

The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has selected Global Hospitality Marketing Link (GHML) to promote the Texas capital as a leading leisure and group travel destination for international visitors. GHML is also representing San Antonio, allowing the firm to more comprehensively package Texas as a destination and capitalize on the record number of international visitors Texas has received in the past year.
