Austin currently has 33,000 guest rooms (and more on the way), all within a stone’s throw of the nation’s hottest restaurants and entertainment venues. Here’s a rundown of new hotels on the horizon, as well as a few that are already impressing guests.

DOWNTOWN

JW MARRIOTT AUSTIN
This giant hotel made its debut in 2015 just two blocks from the Austin Convention Center. With 1,012 guest rooms and totaling more than a million square feet, it’s the largest hotel in Austin, as well as the largest JW Marriott hotel in North America. Opened February 2015

WESTIN AUSTIN DOWNTOWN
With 366 guestrooms and suites, a rooftop pool/bar, 16 meeting rooms and more than 19,000 square feet of function space, the city’s second Westin property is a welcome addition to downtown, complementing its counterpart in The Domain up north. Its restaurant, Stella San Jac, has already garnered major buzz with its American comfort fare. Opened July 2015

HOTEL INDIGO/HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS
This hybrid is composed of a 167-room Holiday Inn Express accessible from Neches Street and a 133-room Hotel Indigo opening its doors onto Ninth Street. Opening Spring 2016

HOTEL ZAZA
With daring décor and deluxe amenities, ZaZa is one of Texas’s most revered and innovative hotel brands. The 24-story tower includes 215 luxury apartments atop a 160-room hotel in downtown Austin near Republic Square Park. Opening Early 2017

STARWOOD ALOFT/ELEMENT HOTELS
This 410-room dual project will host two Starwood brand hotels in a 32-story tower. Guests will enjoy opulent Aloft and Element amenities, including a full-service restaurant and outdoor lounge. Opening Summer 2017

HYATT HOUSE
Rising 10 stories tall, this extended stay hotel – the second of its kind in Austin, with the first Hyatt House located in The Arboretum – will offer 190 rooms and stand at the corner of Ninth and Neches. Opening April 2017

FAIRMONT AUSTIN
This hotel means business. The $370 million city center hotel will place more than 1,000 rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space just east of the Convention Center. Opening Summer 2017

HOTEL VAN ZANDT
This Rainey Street District newbie is a 16-story Kimpton property with 319 guest rooms and 12,000 square feet of meeting space. Along with complimentary coffee and tea in the morning and a free wine hour in the evening, the hotel offers free loaner bikes to use downtown. Opened October 2015

THE PROPER
Poised between the upscale Second Street District and the much-anticipated multi-use Seaholm District, this 250-room hotel with chef-driv­en eateries will stand just steps from the hike and bike trail as well as the new pedestrian bridge over Shoal Creek. Opening Late 2017

THE DOMAIN

ARCHER AUSTIN
With 168 rooms, this eight-story hotel in north Austin’s polished shopping and dining hub, The Domain, will have a “rustic-luxe” aesthetic, with canopy beds, native limestone and terraces with fireplaces. Opening Summer 2016

EAST AUSTIN

HOTEL ELEVEN
With just 14 rooms, Hotel Eleven is the charming newcomer to the bustling East Austin neighborhood. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, luxury Italian linens, artwork by local artists, and a private roof deck to enjoy views of down­town Austin and the University of Texas at Austin. Opening Early 2016

SOUTH CONGRESS

SOUTH CONGRESS HOTEL
Along with 83 hotel rooms and suites, the new South Congress Hotel boasts private desks, a rooftop pool with views of downtown, a 24- hour fitness center and three restaurants, including Central Standard, Café No Sé, and Otoko, a Japanese restaurant led by Chef Paul Qui, a James Beard award winner. Opened September 2015

HILL COUNTRY

HOTEL GRANDUCA
Inspired by a 16th-century Italian palazzo, this 194- room hotel brings a Tuscan flourish to Austin’s hill country. The 38-acre property marks the expansion of the Houston-based brand and offers an Italian restaurant, 3,506-square-foot ballroom, library/billiards room and pool complete with Tuscan gardens. Opened November 2015
