Meet to a beatFive minutes with Amanda Garcia, Austin CVB Music Industry Manager

Q: How do I book live music for my event?
A: Get the ball rolling by filling out the short online form at That gives us the who, what, when and where of your event. We'll respond within 24 hours and send you links to 5-10 bands we think will be a good fit. Once you've decided on your top three choices, we'll check the bands' availability and confirm that they're within budget.

Q: How do you match the band with the event?
A: Our criteria depend on your group's needs. Some people want a jazz band without vocals for background music during a networking hour. Or you might want a rock band for a concert that will be the focal point of your event. We work closely with each group to get a feel for the type of event they are hosting.

Q: Do the musicians have experience performing at professional events?
A: All of the bands we work with have done professional events before. The bands we hire know they are Austin music ambassadors and that they're representing the Live Music Capital of the World®.

Q: What if I'm on a budget?
A: Each group has an entirely different budget, and we've worked with them all. Whether your budget is $500 or $5,000 we can help you find what you're looking for.

Q: How much lead time do you need?
A: A few months are preferred, but we've helped book musicians as far as a year in advance or even a few weeks away.

Q: What are some ways to work music into an event?
A: We've stationed musicians along the street so that groups walking four blocks from their hotel to an event venue can listen to a steel-drum band on one corner and solo blues musicians on another. Another fun idea is to have musicians perform by your registration tables.
