DMAI Heads to Austin

The Destination Marketing Association International (formerly IACVB) concluded its annual meeting in San Diego on Saturday with a Texas-size party and plans for the 92nd annual conference to convene in Austin next year, from July 19-22.

Software Makes Location Scouting Easy

Location scouts can now view all of Austin’s diverse film locations without leaving their computers. The Austin Film Office recently launched Reel-Scout, a software program designed to expedite the process of looking for sites for film, video and commercial photography.

BatFest Celebrates Winged Wonders Anniversary

The first of the Mexican free-tailed bats, only a handful, arrived in Austin and took roost under the Congress Avenue Bridge 25 years ago. Within five years, the original inhabitants multiplied by tens of thousands. Currently, 1.5 million bats take up part-time residence beneath the bridge from April through early November, making the bridge the largest urban bat colony in the world and one of Austin's most popular attractions.
