CBS Early Show Highlights Austin Tourism
CBS broadcasted its national "Great American Getaway" segment from Austin on July 19. Bill Peeper, a DMAI convention attendee and President and CEO of the Orlando CVB, helped Early Show weatherman Dave Price award Darla Evans and her son, Ian, a five-day vacation to Disney World in recognition of her devotion to the Austin community. Evans works with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department as a horticulturist at Zilker Botanical Gardens, and was nominated for the vacation by co-worker Margie Malone. The package includes a discounted three-day pass to the concert and hotel accommodations. This year's lineup is better than ever, featuring Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, the Flaming Lips, KT Tunstall, John Mayer and about 130 other bands.
