ACVB Names New Board Chairman & Members
Glenn West takes the reins as the new chairman of the Austin CVB Board of Directors. West, a senior vice president with Guaranty Bank, has served on the board for two years. He assumes the chairman's position from Dr. Bill Farney, executive director of the University Interscholastic League, who continues to serve on the Board as immediate past chair.
"The Bureau appreciates Bill's loyal service to our board," says Bob Lander, President and CEO of the Austin CVB. "We're looking forward to a smooth transition as Glenn brings not only the perspective of a successful business leader to this position, but also outstanding civic leadership as former president of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce."

The Washington Post (November 30, 2005)
"The self-proclaimed Live Music Capital of the World, the place that gave rock-and-roll superstar Janis Joplin her start in the 1960s, is sounding a little funkier these days. The chili, as one of the famed Neville Brothers sings in his new regular gig, has met the gumbo..."

Sales Meeting Hot Spots (November 2005)
"Activities: If golf is important to your group, you're likely aware of the top golf resorts named by Golf Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, and others. In addition, we'd suggest that you look at ways some golf resorts draw nongolfers into golf-centered activities. For example, Barton Creek Resort & Spa, in Austin, Texas, does a mixture of a cocktail hour and shootout. With a beverage cart and a gallery of nongolfing cheerers, contestants try for the best score on the first hole."
