Austin CVB recently visited Seattle to attend the Professional Convention Management Association's (PCMA) 2008 Annual Meeting, the largest gathering of industry professionals. In addition to attending education sessions and discussions, sales staff met with planners and hospitality partners to market Austin among associations and corporations based on the west coast.

Austin Music Office Releases Seventh Compilation Album
The Austin Music Office unveils "Austin Music, Volume 7," on February 20. The 14-song compilation features genres as diverse as the local artists that create them - from children's music to jazz, Latin rock to R&B and country.The 2007 compilation is the seventh CD in the series produced by the Austin Music Office to promote the city's live music scene. The Bureau distributes copies at tradeshows, media events and other gatherings throughout the year. The CD pack also contains a detailed Austin music guide with maps and club listings. Read More
Austin Celebrates Black History Month
This February, in partnership with the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, Austin CVB hosts the City of Austin's 12th Annual Black History Month celebration. The Honorable Samuel Biscoe, Travis County Judge, emcees the program, and in observance of the national theme, "Carter G. Woodson and the Origins of Multiculturalism," Dr. Larry Earvin, PhD., president of Huston-Tillotson University, provides a keynote speech on the contributions of Woodson, the Father of Black History and founder of Black History Month.
