Introducing a Headliner: the Austin City Limits Travel Package
Austin welcomes nearly 70,000 devoted music fans to the Live Music Capital of the World during the weekend of September 15-17 for the Austin City Limits Music Festival with 130 bands on eight stages during the one-of-a-kind music experience. This year's lineup includes legends Willie Nelson, Van Morrison and Tom Petty.
Austin CVB collaborates with area hotels and ACL fest on an Austin City Limits travel package. The package includes accommodations for three or four nights and a discounted three-day pass to the festival in Zilker Park. Package rates start at approximately $200 per person and vary according to availability of accommodations. Like the festival, packages are expected to sell out quickly.
For music aficionados who would rather be on stage than attend the festival, Austin CVB continues to offer the "Rock Star Package," which allows budding stars to record a CD while enjoying Austin's music scene. Those seeking a relaxing escape can book the "Lake Austin Spa Resort Package" and enjoy one of the world's foremost luxury spas.
Another uniquely Austin travel package, offered exclusively online at www.austintexas.org, is the "Austin Bat Package," with accommodations at the Radisson Hotel & Suites, which offers prime viewing of the Congress Avenue Bridge bat colony.

Destination Texas
Southwest Airlines Spirit (April 2006)
"The State Capitol. The University of Texas. The Live Music Capital of the World. However you know Austin, you know you love it. Full of energy and buzz, the city is growing fast. Yet it still has that laid-back feelinglike nothing is so urgent you can't sit down under the trees with a cold beverage and just work it all out."
Austin: No Limits
The Kansas City Star (May 21, 2006)
"Still, it's not hard to find pockets of the old Austin, the place that made it such a joy to visit. The restaurants and bars along Sixth Street downtown are still crowded after dark. Threadgill's still serves a mean chicken-fried steak. And thousands of bats still darken the sky as they come out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge each evening."

The Seven Wonders of the World-Music
The Globe and Mail (Toronto, ON) (April 22, 2006)
"With a true Texas disdain for false modesty, Austin has registered a trademark on the phrase, 'Live Music Capital of the World.'...This is the spiritual home home of the outlaw tendency in American roots music, characterized by Willie Nelson and Townes van Zandt, who lived here."
