New Austin Planning Guides Available

New editions of the city's only official visitor and convention publications are now available. The 2005-06 Austin Meeting Planner & Destination Guide is available at the Austin CVB offices, 301 Congress Ave., Suite 200, while the Fall/Winter edition of the Austin Official Visitor Guide is available at the Visitor Center, 209 E. Sixth St., and virtually at www.austintexas.org.

Meeting planners, tour operators and visitors use the guides for information on hotels, meeting facilities, special event venues, restaurants, shopping, attractions and other visitor services.

The meeting planner guide reaches 7,500 event planners for local, state and national associations and organizations interested in bringing business to the Capital City. It is also sent to national tour operators planning to include Austin on group tour itineraries.

With 100,000 copies printed every six months, the visitor guide is the primary resource for tourists making their plans to visit Austin.

Updates are already underway for the Spring/Summer 2006 Austin Official Visitor Guide. For information on advertising in the guides, contact Amy Rogers with Weaver Publications at 512-312-0044.

"Percussionist Cyril Neville of New Orleans' first family of soul said the decision to move to Austin, where he and his family waited out the previous two hurricanes, was an easy one. 'Austin's the only city I know of where I could pick up the same vibe as New Orleans,' said the new South Austinite. 'You don't have to instruct the musicians here or tell them what key the song is in.'"

"Even if you decide to wing it, Austin will keep you moving, whether it's to the music, down a trail or to the nearest barbeque shack."
