Spotlight: Travis County Exposition Center
The Travis County Exposition Center (TCEC) is noticing an increased demand for large-scale private events hosted in its expansive meeting and event facilities.
Located at 7311 Decker Lane, the center was built in 1985, primarily as an open-air function space for the livestock and rodeo circuit. A recent renovation included installation of a heating and air conditioning system, making the space available year-round for concerts, sporting events and private functions including two of Austin's largest annual events, the Star of Texas Rodeo and Republic of Texas Biker Rally.
A 15,000-square-foot banquet hall accommodates wedding receptions, birthday parties, tradeshows and dining. The Skyline Club features two large bars, a panoramic view of the Austin skyline from the 1,500-square-foot balcony, banquet seating for 150 people and a reception capacity of 400. In addition, the 25,000-square-foot arena floor is surrounded by stadium seating for up to 6,500. Exclusive catering services can be provided in each space.
"The interest level has probably increased at least 50% [since the renovation], and more and more people want to book events," remarks TCEC project manager Lloyd Evans of Carter & Burgess architectural firm.
