Spotlight on: Ballet Austin's Butler Community School

The next great stage for meetings in Austin is Ballet Austin's new Butler Community School, which opened mid-September at 501 West Third Street. The facility seeks to expand community awareness of cultural arts and invites students at all levels to experience dance, fitness and educational opportunities.

Named in honor of arts philanthropists Sarah and Ernest Butler, the 34,000-square-foot complex offers wireless internet and multiple spaces available for group rental. At 793 square feet, the Community Board Room accommodates up to 60 people for meetings. The Armstrong-Connelly Studio features a city view with two-story, floor-to-ceiling windows facing Third Street. It boasts 1,931 square feet of event space and can service 115 attendees seated, or 164 for receptions.

The AustinVentures Studio Theater is equipped with pre-hung lighting and a sound/light board, and functions as a studio, theater or ballroom for groups of up to 350. In addition, the 841-square-foot City View Lounge offers a skyline background for events welcoming up to 72 guests. A library provides a relaxing space for breaks. Groups are welcome to cater events through the approved vendor of their choice.

In addition to booking event space, groups of at least 10 participants can also schedule private master classes in yoga, pilates and dance. Classes are subject to availability of space and instructor.

For classes, rates and rental information, visit www.balletaustin.org or contact Billie Buddenhagen, facilities director, 512-476-9051 x122 or billie.buddenhagen@balletaustin.org
