Marriott Properties Open with Le Tour d'Hotel

The new Courtyard Austin Downtown/Convention Center and Residence Inn by Marriott, on the corner of Fourth and Trinity Streets, celebrate a grand opening on September 21.

Bill Marriott, Chairman and CEO of Marriott International Inc., Mayor Will Wynn and General Manager Roger Radtke are scheduled to address the attendees during a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m.

From 6-8 p.m., guests receive a "passport" and experience Le Tour d'Hotel, a walking tour of the property through guestrooms, meeting rooms, the rooftop terrace, fitness center and Champions Restaurant and Sports Bar. Live music from a mariachi band welcomes guests to the hotels, while Trish Murphy and Casey McPherson perform on the rooftop terrace. Upon completion of the tour, guests may drop their "passport" to enter a raffle for prizes, including vacations to Marriott resorts.

The two hotels add a total of 449 guest rooms and 6,600 square feet of event and meeting space to the downtown hotel package. Among additional shared amenities are a heated indoor pool, whirlpool and onsite Starbucks. The hotel is owned and operated by White Lodging Services. Continental
(August 2006)

"With 206 parks, 74 miles of trails, 72 athletic fields, and one national championship football team, Austin owns the highlight reel...Austin will always bleed burnt orange...but on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, where old traditions blend seamlessly with a hip, 21st century aesthetic, Austin's sporting roots spread far beyond the confines of campus."

Austin's Powers

New Zealand Woman's Weekly
(August 7, 2006)

"The city is thriving as a film and TV production centre, with its own professional ballet, symphony, opera and theatre companies, more than 20 museums and dozens of galleries. But Austin's biggest attraction is its eclecticism. It has everything from wild blues in the bars to wild bluebonnets swaying in the breeze on the shores of the many lakes within an easy drive from downtown."

"#7: Austin, TX: Hit this town when the sun goes down. The live music competes with the best of 'em. The local brew ain't bad either...Bike lanes make getting from downtown to the outskirts easy. The Greenbelt is best for trail running. The hike-and-bike trail around Town Lake offers 10-, seven-, five-, four- and three-mile loops, mostly on soft dirt."

"Austin, Texas: Las Manitas Avenue Cafe. When it's up to me, I almost always go for the Mexican comfort food- and so does the rest of eclectic Austin (think suited power brokers and bleary-eyed musicians). Loaded with Latino art and vintage booths, Las Manitas is great for that morning wake-up call."
