Headquartered in Buda, Texas; NuStats provides technological solutions for data collection and analysis to clients throughout the United States, and has an international consulting presence through its virtual call centers.

NuStats is a leading travel and transportation research consultancy since 1984. The company specializes in project surveys and studies across multiple disciplines including Travel Behavior, Transit, Health, Education, Social Policy, etc.

NuStats President is headed by Dr. Martin Kunzmann. The Company's in-house information technology team has produced software toolsets for web & mobile platforms to assist and expand business research & user groups, data collection quality, and operations cost optimization.

Meet the team


Martin Kunzmann; President CEO

Martin Kunzmann holds a degree in engineering and PhD in operations research from University of Karlsruhe Germany now Karlruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 1988 followed by an international career of leading international industrial, automotive and tec Manufacturers. As president, he directs corporate operations, guides business strategy, and provides leadership in strategic planning and growth. He actively participates and contributes to NuStats' financial planning and reporting as well as business development activities.

David Acosta; COO

Mr. Acosta's experience comprises strategic planning; performance improvement and management; operational effectiveness and training; and the development and visualization of new concepts. He has been responsible for planning and oversight of resource planning; production schedules; and budget allocation for all data collection tasks and teams, including multiple NuStats sites and specialized subcontractor firms. He has conceptualized the development of an innovative training curriculum and management plan for the data collection team and created processes to maintain highly qualified staff throughout the project duration.

Chris Cruz; Project Consultant

An accomplished economist and valuable addition to the team. Chris graduated from the prestigious University of Illinois, further solidifying his foundation in economic research and analysis. With a diverse background in market research and central banking, he brings a two-pronged research and teaching agenda focused on applied microeconomics and monetary economics. His expertise aligns seamlessly with NuStats' commitment to providing cutting-edge survey research and data analytics solutions.

Dixi M. Paglinawan-Modoc; Senior Data Analyst

With a Master's degree in Statistics and over 2 years of market research and over 4 years of transportation survey research and analysis experience, she has provided both statistical and spatial analysis expertise on multiple household travel surveys, transit on-board surveys and travel behavior surveys.

Norry Mae Nepomuceno; Junior Data Analyst

Ms. Nepomuceno is a Statistician with ten years of experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, data administration and management, and Business Performance (KPI) reporting and analysis. She has a master's degree in Information Technology and a bachelor's degree in Statistics. Ms. Nepomuceno has been working with NuStats for four years and has handled data administration and data analysis tasks for Milwaukee County Transit Survey, Texas Education Agency Post-School Follow-up Survey, USPS Nationwide Household Diary Study, and other survey projects conducted by NuStats.

Kris Castillo; Project Manager

Mr. Castillo is a Project Manager with over ten years of research and development experience including supervision over data collection and call center staff as well as more than five years specific to survey research conducting Household Travel, Education, Customer Satisfaction, and Community studies. Mr. Castillo’s time and experience with NuStats has helped provide the necessary skills needed to develop a broad understanding of survey research project management and data collection, from both the survey operations standpoint and the methodological standpoint.

Ceci Natal; Quality Assurance Manager

Ms. Natal has more than twenty years of experience working in research from the Fulfillment aspect of projects to the cleaning of the final data of those projects. She managed the Fulfillment of different projects, from budgeting labor costs and postage and creating mailouts. She has also overseen the quality assurance department regarding task allocations, training, mentoring and monitoring calls, and cleaning of data of the project before delivery. For the past 5 years, Ms. Natal has overseen the United States Postal Service Household Diary Study in both the Fulfillment and retrieval portion of the study.

Brett Davis; Senior Software Engineer

Brett Davis, with a Bachelor's in Economics (minor in Computer Science) from the University of Iowa, brings over 20 years of expertise as a Senior Software Developer. Renowned for his troubleshooting skills, Brett has been an invaluable asset at NuStats, playing a pivotal role in the development of Cloud-Based SAS Web Survey Systems. His portfolio includes designing six scanner apps integrating SQL data with XSL for HTML interfaces (2012-2014) and a standout data collection application for the U.S. Postal Service Household Diary Study in 2018. Committed to client satisfaction, Brett ensures every software modification aligns seamlessly with client needs.

Rafael Estrella Paz; Software Engineer

Rafael Estrella is a Middle Software Engineer with a solid background in computer science from Western Governors University. He brings experience in software infrastructure, data collection, and analysis. At NuStats LLC, Rafael has contributed to projects ranging from large-scale data collection systems to community-centric applications. His consistent dedication to efficient and practical software solutions is evident in his work.

Dennis Niewöhner; IT (Social Media)

Dennis is a season IT Professional with specialties in Public Outreach and Advanced Video Technologies. Dennis Niewöhner Graduated from the university of Bielefeld Germany and is an occasional speaker at Austin SXSW.
