Formula 1 in Austin

Austin Auto Racing

Austin hosts the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix inaugural race from 2012-2021. The US Grand Prix takes place at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), the nation's first Grand Prix-purposed track and event complex, located southeast of Austin.

During the race, there's plenty of ways to celebrate in the city. Austin's first Fan Fest takes place in the heart of downtown during race weekend. From the shores of Lady Bird Lake to the steps of the Capitol, the three days are packed with national, regional and local music acts, street performers, F1TM simulators and showcars and lots of family fun.

There's always something happening in Austin. Check out our events calendar for more ideas on what to do during F1TM weekend. Additional resources and general information can also be found on the City of Austin's Grand Prix website.

COTA will bring more excitement to the track in 2013 when they host the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix April 19-21 and the V8 SuperCars Series May 17-19.

Start planning your trip to Austin for F1TM in 2013. Next year's race day is November 17th.
