Heritage Marketing

Through advertising and marketing programs, the Heritage Marketing Department encourages tourists to visit attractions and destinations in the city that are historic in nature or offer a glimpse into Austin's diverse cultural heritage. Heritage Marketing oversees a number of tourism related programs and special events, including the annual commemoration of Black History Month in February and Historic Preservation Week in May.

In addition, the department works in conjunction with the Historic Landmark Commission to administer a grant program for historic preservation and a banner program along Congress Avenue and Sixth Street. The department handles all requests to hang banners on historic Congress Avenue and East Sixth Street.

Heritage tour guides offer free walking tours of Austin's historic districts year-round.
