Austin Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week

National Travel and Tourism Week 2019, the 36th annual celebration of the contributions and accomplishments of the U.S. travel industry, takes place on May 5-11. During the first full week in May, communities nationwide unite to showcase the impact of travel to policymakers, business leaders and media with rallies, events and other activities. This year’s theme is “Travel Matters,” a recognition of the innumerable ways in which travel enriches lives and strengthens communities.

The travel and tourism industry employs more than 125,000 Austinites - the 3rd largest industry in the city. The true impact of our local hospitality community is felt not only in economic impact figures, but in the real stories of local business owners, tourism employees, and musicians who are the heart and soul of our industry.
