Bruce Munro's Field of Light at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

There’s no doubt that Austin offers amazing nightlife. Take an evening away from the action and immerse yourself in Austin’s newest breathtaking art installation. In collaboration with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, C3 Presents is bringing Bruce Munro’s art installation, Field of Light, to the Wildflower Center for an extended run September 9 through December 30. Munro’s exhibit will showcase one of his signature pieces of work that will wow guests of all ages.

About Field of Light

Central Texans and visitors can experience the Wildflower Center’s sweeping landscape in a whole new light. Field of Light will illuminate 16 acres in the Texas Arboretum at the Wildflower Center, offering a stunning display of 28,000 solar-powered stems of light. The installation beautifully showcases the intersection of art,  technology, and allows nature lovers to be immersed in this unique and dazzling topography.

Tickets start at $41 for adults and will offer guests of all ages the opportunity to experience this incredible installation. In addition to being able to experience the Central Texas landscape in a whole new way, guests are encouraged to make a night of it by enjoying food and drinks from local vendors. Entry times are in 15-minute increments and guests may enjoy this self-guided experience at their own pace.

About the Artist

Artist Bruce Munro is best known for large-scale light-based artworks inspired by his continuous study of light and curiosity about shared human experiences. With a Fine Arts degree, early career training in the lighting design industry, and a creative urge for reuse, Munro creates art that captures his responses to literature, music, science, and the world around him. His work has been commissioned and displayed in special exhibitions in galleries, parks, grand estates, cathedrals, botanical gardens, and museums around the globe.

Hours, Admission & Accessibility

Purchase your tickets here and experience Bruce Munro’s extraordinary display of glowing colored spheres for a dream-like adventure perfect for all members of the family to enjoy. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Wildflower Center. Guests can enjoy the exhibit from September 9 through December 30.

The installation is running Thursdays through Sundays, from 6:45 p.m. - 10:30 p.m in September, with earlier entry times beginning in October as the sunset shifts earlier. Please check www.fieldoflightaustin.com for the most up-to-date event hours.

Designated parking lots for Field of Light guests are available along with ample street parking. Free shuttles pick up and drop off at 5915 La Crosse Ave #1D, Austin, TX 78739.
