We celebrate Cinco de Mayo this month, which lends a hand in Austin’s wave of Latin music celebrations through May. The Rancho Alegre Conjunto Festival will take place at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater May 5-7, hosting some of the premiere Conjunto bands in the region. In East Austin, ACL Festival alumni El Tule will play the Hotel Vegas Cinco de Mayo Party and Rock en Espanol outfit Vitera will have a special Cinco de Mayo performance at Antone's.

Fresh off their spring tour, All Star Selena Tribute Bidi Bidi Banda will perform a special Cinco de Mayo set at 3TEN at Austin City Limits Live along with special guests Su Madre. 3TEN will also host San Antonio trio Girl in a Coma on May 10 and legendary Austin band Del Castillo on May 20.

Singer Lisa Morales will play Austin’s longest running free concert series, Unplugged at The Grove on May 11.

The Austin American-Statesman will serve at the location at the first Taco Libre festival on Mother’s Day. Taco Libre is a celebration of the region's best taquerias, lucha libre wrestling and great live music! Nina Diaz and Piñata Protest will join in on the fun at this tasty special event.

For your epic dance party needs, I highly suggest longtime Austin DJ collective Peligrosa’s monthly dance party at Empire Control Room, this month’s installment take place on May 19.

Nationally touring performances will include Las Cafeteras at Flamingo Cantina on May 2, La Santa Cecilia at the Paramount Theatre on May 16, Metalachi at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on May 25 and Reik at ACL Live at the Moody Theater on May 28.

Locals and visitors alike can count on plenty more live music announcements throughout the month and there is sure to be something for everyone. Hope to see you out at some of these great events!
