Austin alt-rock band girling announces new EP “Side 1” set for release on Friday, May 19 Music & Concerts

Austin based alternative pop rock band girling has announced the upcoming release of their EP “Side 1” on Friday, May 19, 2017. In collaboration with producer John Croslin (Spoon, Guided by Voices, The Reivers), the new work is poised to be a continuation of girling’s off-kilter, wry lyrics mixed with excellent musicianship. They’ll be celebrating the EP release with a party on Friday, May 19 at The Sidewinder, located at 715 Red River St., Austin, TX 78701. A Sinclair and other guests who will be announced will kick off the evening. Please see for ticket information, set times and more.
girling’s sound and essence is the brainchild of acclaimed producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Andy Sharp, who has lent his engineering talents to such bands as the Toadies, Sheryl Crow, Spoon and Blue October. Sharp’s concept came to fruition when he connected with other celebrated musicians including former Kissinger drummer Rusty Zagst, Milton Mapes and Monahan’s guitarist Jim Fredley, bassist Jason DeCuir and Joe Gassman on keys. This collaboration brought about an attitude and raw sound all its own.
"With this new release the band is truly hitting its stride and I'm just so proud how far we've come and even more excited about where we're going,” says former Kissinger drummer and current girling member Rusty Zagst. “Lyrically, Andy has never been sharper and the stories he tells on this record are heartbreakingly beautiful. As a band, the collaboration was effortless and the arrangements just fell into place. We've been doing this a long time and the process of making this record has been the most satisfying to date."
