Los Artículos: Celebrating Latine/x/a/o Creatives and Community

Join us for Los Artículos, a three-day immersive event celebrating the vibrant Latine/x/a/o creative community in Austin. Hosted by Austin Arts Foundation, this event will take place from September 12-14, 2024, at the Austin Cinemaker Space. Los Artículos will feature a rich lineup of interactive activities, workshops, live performances, and panel discussions designed to showcase and uplift Latine/x/a/o artists and their diverse narratives.

Highlights of the Event Include:
-- Acting Workshop with Carlos Carrasco: Learn from the iconic actor, known for his role as Popeye in Blood In Blood Out, in an exclusive workshop. Gain valuable insights into the craft of acting and the film industry. This event kicks off the festival on Thursday, September 12th, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.
-- Cultural Art Panel Discussion: On Friday, September 13th, join Jesse Borrego (Cruz) and Carlos Carrasco (Popeye) from Blood In Blood Out, along with special guests TK Tunchez, Founder and CEO of Las Ofrendas and Friday Friday ATX, and Cindy Pedraza of Coco André, for a thought-provoking panel discussion on the impact of art on society. The panel will explore the power of Latinx art as a legacy, delving into questions of artistic authenticity and its role in societal change.
-- Art Exhibition: Discover a curated selection of artworks by emerging Hispanic artists exploring themes of identity, heritage, and community. The exhibition opens on Friday, September 13th, and runs through September 30th in the MMAC’s Community Gallery.
-- Film Screening and Special Guest Appearances: Celebrate the cultural impact of Blood In Blood Out with a special screening on Saturday, September 14th, featuring opening remarks by Carlos Carrasco. This event will provide an intimate look into the making and enduring influence of this iconic film.
-- After Party Performances on Saturday: End the celebration with an unforgettable after-party on Saturday night featuring electrifying performances by local Austin bands Eterno Scroll and Midnightnavy. Dance, connect, and celebrate the creativity and resilience of our community.
-- Food and Drink: Enjoy a variety of authentic Hispanic cuisines and drinks from our partners, including Modelo Oro, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Liquid Death, Austin EastCiders, Best Day Brewing, Carabuena Tequila, High West Whisky, Austin Cocktails, Moonshine Sweet Tea, and Achiote ATX!
