Austin is a long way from the warm coastal waters where rock lobsters are raised, but in November, a local production company is hosting the Austin Rock Lobster Festival to celebrate lobsters and live music.

Perhaps a nod to the B-52′s song “Rock Lobster,” this event is “an afternoon celebration of the lobster served with delicious accompaniments, great drinks and live entertainment,” but beyond that, 787 Productions organizers haven’t offered many details about what attendees can expect.

The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 at Republic Square Park, 422 Guadalupe Street. Tickets cost $65 and are available here.

And if you’ve ever wondered about the difference between Maine lobsters and rock lobsters, here’s a good primer. In short, Maine lobsters have large claws and live in cold water and rock or spiny lobsters live in warmer waters and have small claws, so only their tails are eaten.
