    About

Back to School Doesn’t Have to Be a Battle is a free, live webinar created to help parents ease the transition from summer to the school year with less stress and more confidence. Scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, from 6:30–7:30 PM, the event is hosted by Just Mind Counseling and led by two experienced clinicians—Kris Downing, LCSW, and Loren Lomme, LPC, RPT. Together, they’ll offer practical tools and compassionate guidance to help families create a smoother, more structured return to school.

This webinar is especially helpful for parents of children with unique developmental or behavioral needs, including ADHD, sensory processing sensitivities, social challenges, and those with IEPs. You’ll learn how to rebuild healthy routines around sleep and daily structure, reduce emotional distress and school-related anxiety, and discover strategies that foster resilience and support in your child. Whether you’re parenting a preschooler or a teenager, this session is designed to meet a wide range of family needs.

Kris Downing brings decades of experience supporting families through mental health and school-related challenges, especially in the areas of emotional regulation and communication. Loren Lomme offers a neurodiversity-affirming perspective and specializes in working with children through play therapy, focusing on ADHD, autism, and sensory issues.

Unlike generic parenting workshops, this webinar speaks directly to the emotional demands that come with the back-to-school period. The goal is to help parents reset their family’s rhythm and leave with real-world strategies they can begin using right away. It’s a supportive, no-pressure space for learning and connection with clinicians who truly understand the struggles families face during this seasonal shift.
