About
Austin-artist, Alfonso Huerto brings art to life as the featured Artist in Residence at Sheraton Austin Georgetown hosted by Georgetown Arts and Culture Program. This initiative coincides with National Arts and Humanities Month in October, a time to celebrate the transformative power of the arts in enriching communities.
Originally from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México, and now based in Austin, Texas, Huerto blends surrealism, vibrant tropical colors, and everyday beauty in his artwork. His process incorporates mediums such as egg tempera, beeswax, and pastels, and his pieces reflect the rich cultural influences of both Mexico and Texas. In addition to printmaking, Huerto has worked on various projects, including illustrating the book Maya Gods and Monsters by Carol Karasik, and his work has been exhibited internationally and across the U.S., including at the Dougherty Arts Center and La Peña Gallery in Austin.
