Join us for an hour of movement and stress reduction in the midst of our hectic world. Dance for Stress Management is a dance course designed to provide participants with an opportunity to relax and refresh from daily stressors. This class uses stress alleviating movement techniques and provides education on stress management and coping skills, including, breathing exercises and meditation.

Emily will guide participants to promote an inclusive environment where all people can come together for a stress relieving movement experience. Movement for the class will consist of individual and group improvisation and guided movement.

No previous dance experience is needed. Please wear comfortable clothes with layers for warmth while in stillness. If you are interested in attending but have questions, feel free to contact Emily at


Emily Gardner is a Recreation Therapist working in mental health with adults and kids in the Austin area. Emily has a passion for bringing important mental health needs to the general public through expressive movement classes: Dance for Stress Management and Dance for Confidence. In her work as a Recreation Therapist, Emily uses recreation and leisure interests to improve the health and well-being of people with psychiatric impairments. Emily graduated from Texas State University with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography and an MS in Recreation and Leisure Services- Therapeutic Recreation. Emily is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and is a Certified DanceAbility Instructor.
