The Contemporary Austin presents Eamon Ore-Giron: Competing With Lightning / Rivalizando Con El Relámpago, an exhibition tracing the evolution of artist Eamon Ore-Giron's dynamic paintings over more than twenty years of creative practice. Exploring the complex layering of identities, histories, and artistic legacies that have influenced Ore-Giron's approach to painting, the exhibition marks the first presentation to bring together pivotal chapters in his career.

As an artist, musician, and DJ, Eamon Ore-Giron mines the complex nature of Latinx identity, the history of the Americas, and the many legacies of abstraction in art. Raised in Tucson, Arizona, he is inspired by his roots in the American Southwest, his visits to his father’s hometown of Huancayo, Peru, and his time spent as a practicing artist in California and Mexico. The exhibition will be on view in the main gallery of the Jones Center on Congress Avenue from March 3 to August 20. A series of public programs will accompany the exhibition.
