    About

Okay, technically this is a one-woman show about STI’s, miscarriage, HPV, and women’s health.

But believe it or not, this show is also uproariously funny, except when it makes you cry so hard the person behind you offers you a tissue. It’s about love, loss, overcoming shame, and possibly even--I know it sounds crazy--learning to love and accept yourself for who you are. Not just for owners of vaginas!

A short piece from this extraordinary show won Best of Fest in this year’s FronteraFest, and to say the audiences adored it is an understatement. Now HPT is thrilled to present the full show.

Yola Jean Lu is an Austin comedian, actress and writer and one of the original co-founders of the all-Asian American improv troupe, Y'all We Asian; she is also an original founder of Disoriented Comedy, a mostly female stand up tour that gave a platform to other Asian American voices. Yola is the 2022 winner of the Austin Chronicle's Best Actress award, and received honorable mention in the Chicago Women Film Fest for Best Actress for her role in her short film, “Patsy.” She created the YouTube series called "uncomfortable the series", performs standup around town , and canbe seen every Thursday at the Fallout Theater with her all-female/non-binary troupe, Garage.

This project is funded in part by a grant from the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin.
