Independence Brewing Co. Celebrates Release of New Double IPA with 4/20 Screening of “Friday” Film & Theater

To celebrate the release of its first double IPA, Independence Brewing Co. will host a free screening of the 1995 stoner buddy comedy film “Friday” on Friday, April 20 from 7-10 p.m. Attendees will receive a complimentary bowl of Cap’n Crunch at the beginning of the film. Hot dogs, popcorn, hop-brownies, and beer will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

Inspired by the nickname given to pre-1977 Ford F250 4X4 pickup trucks, the new double IPA is called “Highboy.” Brewer Oscar Martinez worked in collaboration with Head Brewer Brannon Radicke to develop the unique flavor profile of Highboy through a series of experimental hop-additions.

The team describes it as a “head-on collision” between an old-school West Coast Double IPA and an East Coast hazy IPA. The result is a resinous beer that’s been dry hopped with loads of late-addition hops, cryo hops and “souped up” with an experimental hop extract.

This seasonal brew has an ABV of 8.5% and is ideal for pairing with salty cured meats, grilled pork chops, spicy Thai, sharp cheddar cheese, or salted caramel ice cream.
