ABOUT THE SHOW: The weekend of the Summer Solstice we have performances by Austin’s first ever Poet Laureate Zell Miller III, dance legend Kelsey Oliver, and musician & sound artist J.C. King, plus animation by the inimitable Annie McCall. Immediately following the performances join us for a reception celebrating Annie McCall, and the opening of their exhibit “It made sense when I made it OR Everything in its place” in the 4th Floor Gallery.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS: jkjk is married couple punk rocker khattieQ (he/she/they) and experimental theatre artist Jenny Larson-Quiñones (she/they). We create queer performance that centers joy and disrupts the status quo.
Zell Miller III is a poet, theater artist, and creative force. In 2004, he was voted the best/poet writer in the Austin Chronicle. In 2017, he was inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame. 2025-2027 he will serve as the Austin Poet Laureate.
Annie B. McCall is a multi-disciplinary artist. She started working in the animation industry with Minnow Mountain Studios in 2018 for the animated TV series Undone, where she was an animator on Season 1 and an Animation Team Lead for Season 2. In 2021 she was an animator of the film Quantum Cowboys. She has won several awards on the festival circuit for her short stop motion film “Loop”. She was part of the NAT 24 selected artist in 2009 for her piece "Hair Pipe" at The Arthouse at the Jones Center in Downtown Austin.
