    About

The Juneteenth Interpretive Signage event at Bethany Cemetery in East Austin commemorates the legacy of one of the city's oldest African American burial grounds. Our Annual Juneteenth celebration honors the lives of those interred—many of whom were formerly enslaved and among Austin's earliest Black residents. This year’s celebration will feature a short program and the unveiling of new beautifully designed Interpretive signage. There will be guided tours led by Black Austin Tours. African drumming by Re-Claim, Music and Light refreshments will be served. The event is FREE to the public.
