    About

Parents’ Climate Community, an Austin nonprofit organization engaging Austin parents and families in meaningful action on climate change, is spearheading Austin, Texas’ first Kidical Mass bike ride, alongside partners General Marshall Middle School, Ghisallo Cycling Initiative, and Yellow Bike Project, with funding support from Get There ATX. The all-ages, free event takes place Saturday April 26th, 2025 from 9am to noon at Marshall Middle School, 4401 Tilley Street, 78723 in East Central Austin.

Kidical Mass is an international public community event which allows children to ride bicycles together with adults acting as safety marshalls. Kidical Mass rides give children an opportunity to practice riding on public roads and cycling paths, taking advantage of visibility and safety in numbers. Kidical Mass also creates awareness of children's mobility rights, promoting the idea that kids should be able to go by bike to school or to their leisure activities, and also calls attention to safer cycling infrastructure while riding.

Austin’s first Kidical Mass will feature a slow-moving, all-ages two-mile bike ride, a post-ride party with giveaways, snacks, storytelling and the opportunity to connect with other Austin organizations that celebrate children and adults on bikes, including the City of Austin Transportation and Public Works' Safe Routes to School program, AURA, Firefly Fund, Yellow Bike Project, Bike Story Night, Austin Youth Fitness, and Urban Arrow. Yellow Bike Project will be providing safety checks and mechanical support. Interpretation services will be available courtesy of Sign Language Access for Social Justice (ASL4SJ-ATX).
