LOLA (Local Opera Local Artists) Presents
We Might Be Struck By Lightning
    A choreographed pastiche chamber opera

LOLA will present a remount of We Might Be Struck By Lightning, a groundbreaking chamber opera conceived and directed by Rebecca Herman with choreography by Rebecca Whitehurst.

This bold, genre-blurring production returns to the stage at Ground Floor Theatre, reimagining the boundaries of opera and theatre. Arranged for voice, piano, cello, and violin, the work weaves together music, movement, and voice in an intimate, electric harmony. Through the emotional depth of art song and the expressive language of dance, the piece explores themes of vulnerability, connection, grief, and the complex beauty of the human experience.

Originally premiering in 2017 to critical acclaim, this remount marks an exciting new chapter for a work that continues to resonate with aching honesty and evocative visual storytelling.

Please note: This show explores themes of depression and intimacy and is appropriate for mature teens and adults.

This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
