Plato III is a LA-based rapper/producer raised in the West Texas town of Abilene, a place that inspired Daniel Johnston to sing "I have been to Abilene, the devil has Texas." He has been described by Pigeons & Planes as an "ambitious...intelligent talent" and was featured on the site three separate times off the strength of his 2016 debut Life Before Death. The release, which featured collaborations with OVO's Eric Dingus and Brockhampton, caught the attention of Spotify's "Fresh Finds" playlist, a playlist that is designed "to predict new breakout artists with the most promising new music out there". His second release, My First Word Was Juice, was a trap memoir that explored the factors that led to him making it out the mud. It featured the song "Illuminate", which became one of the most Shazam'd songs in America after being included on the soundtrack of Netflix's 2019 hit film "Always Be My Maybe". His highly anticipated third project 9 Love Songs was released on October 18.
