Radio Play: A Double-Dyed Deceiver Museum & Exhibits

The O. Henry Players will present a live old time radio dramatization of an action-packed Western that begins with a Texas shoot out, escape across the Gulf of Mexico, and concludes with a classic O. Henry twist. Will the Llano Kid go through with the swindle that Thacker proposes to return as the missing son of rich, grieving parents?

The radio play format focuses on actors’ voices, foley sound effects, and minimal props to create an intimate atmosphere and inspire the audience's imagination. The enactment of A Double-Dyed Deceiver will appeal to fans of O. Henry as well as those unfamiliar with the legendary short story author.

The performance features actor Rick Perkins, who tours nationally for his one-man show O.Henry: The Rolling Stone.

The radio play is being presented in conjunction with the Brush Square Museums Foundation’s annual meeting. Guests Mike Miller, Austin History Center Managing Archivist, and Melissa Parr, Senior Curator Brush Square Museums, will describe original, rare O.Henry artifacts only recently added to their collections. Brief BSMF board reports and refreshments complete the formalities.
