    About

Our 21st original musical, The Prince & The Pana is written in English, Spanish and Taino and is rich in history and magic! Set in the mid-19th century - before the end of the Abolition of Slavery in Puerto Rico - this story follows an African Prince and his journey to save his people. Our play includes the history of the Majesty, the last known illegal slave ship to come to Puerto Rico in 1859. Our musical breaks historical stereotypes, and features strong women who are ahead of their time!

Each year, our annual play combines community theatre, original live music, dance, and cocobale -- Afro-Puerto Rican sticks & machete fighting -- to bring history to life and honor unsung heroes! The Prince & The Pana features a full cast including 8 actors, fighters, dancers, musicians, extras -- and cameo performances by our cultural center children! Our musical will feature original Bomba, Plena, Jibaro, and Taino music!
