The Austin Film Society and The Contemporary Austin present two special outdoor screenings of new documentary WITHOUT GETTING KILLED OR CAUGHT with director Tamara Saviano in attendance. The screenings will take place on the evenings of Wednesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 20 at Laguna Gloria. Gates will open at 7:15 PM and the film will start at 8:15 PM. After making its world premiere last month at SXSW, the film was awarded the festival’s 2021 Lone Star Award. The documentary centers on Guy Clark, the dean of Texas songwriters, and his struggle to write poetic, yet indelible songs while balancing a complicated marriage with wife Susanna, and a deep friendship with Townes Van Zandt.
The event is open to the public and to AFS and Contemporary Austin members. Tickets will go on sale to members on Wednesday, April 21 and the general public on Friday, April 23. For more information and tickets visit austinfilm.org
Screenings will take place at Laguna Gloria’s outdoor amphitheater to allow for plenty of socially distanced viewing. Guests are invited to bring foldable chairs and blankets. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase, but guests may also bring their own.View Map
