    About

ATX’s first mural inspired by 𝔸𝕣𝕥 𝔻𝕖𝕔𝕠 is ready! It honors the art deco queen Tamara de Lempicka - an icon, a remarkable artist, and a trailblazing woman. Join us for the unveiling event & party on 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝟰:𝟯𝟬 p.m., at Holly Commons, 2400 E Cesar Chavez, Austin, TX 78702.

Please meet us at the mural site for a Q&A with J Muzacz, the piece's author. Conversations, discussions, food, spirits, and music will follow at a nearby food truck park within the Holly Commons. For the party, think art deco, glamor, bold colors, and headpieces - eclectic East Austin style. Bring your inner Tamara!

Like the heroines of our previous project, Lempicka was an immigrant woman who left behind what was familiar to her and conquered the world with her talent, art, and personality. She was a rebel who tested many artistic and societal norms. A member of the 1920s Paris avant-garde scene during the time of Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, and André Gide, she was famous for breaking social norms.

Today, interest in Lempicka’s art is going through a revival. Celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, Barbara Streisand, and Madonna are among Lempicka’s most ardent collectors. Her work is exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, attracting thousands of visitors. Several recent exhibitions of her work took place in her birth country, Poland. We think Austin will appreciate Lempicka’s story. Her life exemplifies that an independent, creative, and resilient woman can literally conquer the world.
