    Austin Premiere
After The Metropolitan Opera had been shuttered for over a year, the renowned institution reopened with the first work in its 138 years written by a Black composer—Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up In My Bones. The seven-time Grammy Award winner now presents his masterwork in a concert production that features excerpts from the opera performed by the composer, an ensemble of string and jazz musicians, and two guest singers. With projections by visual artist Andrew F. Scott.
