Asahi Imports is Austin’s only Japanese grocery store that exclusively carries over 30,000 Japanese products. Best known for being one of the only places to get handmade Onigiri rice balls in town in a traditional "konbini" style setting, and daily bento offerings that sell out. Owner and operator Sally Matsumae's grandmother opened the original location in 1967 (after emigrating from Japan) and like the original, the South location is built to feel like you are walking into a traditional grocery and convenience store in Japan.
