BUFFALO BILLIARDS: FUN FOR EVERYONE
A visit to Austin’s Sixth Street district wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Buffalo Billiards. Whether you’re looking to grab some delicious food, drink beer at great prices or play a wide variety of games including pool, shuffleboard, foosball, pinball or darts, there’s something for everyone at this popular establishment.
A real piece of “Wild West” history, Buffalo Billiards is housed in a turn-of-the-century building across from the Driskill hotel. The Missouri House, built in 1861 by the Ziller Family, was Austin’s first boarding house and rumored to be a brothel where many a cowboy had a good time. It has since been home to a dry goods store and several saloons before becoming Buffalo Billiards in 1999. A popular stop for Austin Ghost Tours, the building is said to be haunted by a mischievous ghost named Fred who likes to rearrange the barstools.
Tons of Games
With over 22,000 square feet of game space, boredom is not an option at Buffalo Billiards. Enjoy playing everything from pool, shuffleboard and foosball to air hockey and console games like PlayStation 4, Xbox and Wii. Their impressive collection of pinball machines is also unique to downtown. Try your hand at 13 new, and classic, pinball machines in their Pinball Loft. Buffalo Billiard’s large space also means it never feels crowded, even on a Friday or Saturday night, so groups can be accommodated on a moment’s notice.
A Great Happy Hour
If you’re looking for a deal, specials abound at Buffalo Billiards. Their happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and offers $1 off select draft beers and $3.50 well drinks and wine. Drink specials continue from 8 p.m. to close on Sunday through Friday. Or, drop by for lunch and enjoy their daytime specials. They have a great selection of Texas classics and local brews on tap.
Fresh Bar Food
Bar food is plentiful in Austin but Buffalo Billiards fresh fare stands out from the crowd. Their chicken tenders recently won an award and are made to order—first marinated in their delicious secret sauce before being dredged in flour and lightly fried. The Chicago-style Iltaco pizza puffs are a unique item for Texas. Made from an original Chi-Town recipe, these flaky deep-fried pastries are filled with pizza sauce, fresh Mozzarella and pepperoni. Other popular favorites include the buffalo chicken wrap, wings (in mild or atomic) and fully loaded nachos.
Private Event Spaces
Whether you’re throwing a small birthday party or looking for a venue that can accommodate a 1,000-person corporate gathering, Buffalo Billiards has ample space for a variety of events. Their proximity to the Austin Convention Center also makes it a fun place for team building after a convention. Their downtown location is in convenient walking distance to many hotels, which means you won’t have to put your people on shuttles. Even better, small groups don’t need a reservation. So if your bachelor party is passing by and wants to play some games, Buffalo Billiards can easily accommodate a group of 15 walking in off the street.
