Downtown Austin
Back to Top of ListWhen planning a meeting in Austin, take advantage of lively areas and points of interest throughout downtown. While the Austin Convention Center is closed until 2029 for reconstruction, planners are encouraged to discover how the flexible space at the Palmer Events Center can meet their needs — special events booked here range from roller derby action to symphony concerts, trades shows and conferences.
Located just steps from each other, four headquarters hotels also offer meeting spaces and work together to host large campus-style events. Meeting participants can look forward to attending after-hours gatherings in spectacular downtown venues.
To keep attendees entertained, include fun stops on your event schedule. In the Live Music Capital of the World®, venues in the Red River Cultural District turn into an awesome backdrop for your event. Attend concerts and sporting events at the Moody Center, which showcases a range of diverse sounds. Along Sixth Street, arguably one of the most famous nightlife districts in Austin, music and dancing start at sunset and continue through 2 a.m.
The unique Rainey Street entertainment district is lined with historic houses converted into bars and restaurants with plenty of personality — perfect for a casual night of socializing over live music. As the name suggests, many of the bars and restaurants in the Warehouse District are situated in renovated warehouses. More mature crowds hang out here, and live entertainment and good food make for a dynamic nightlife scene with gorgeous rooftop views. Along 2nd Street, locally owned shops, restaurants and entertainment venues attract a trendy, chic and sophisticated crowd.
