Culture & Performing Arts
Austin is an undeniable hub of creativity. In 2015, Austin became the first (and only) city in the United States to receive a City of Media Arts designation from UNESCO. The honor underscores Austin’s reputation as an innovative global city at the intersection of art, music, film and digital technology. The city is home to a number of world-class museums, such as The Contemporary Austin and the Blanton Museum of Art, which houses the nation’s largest university-owned collection of artworks. Austin’s vibrant creative community also includes a diverse range of musicians, dancers, artists, actors, writers and filmmakers.

Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater (ACL Live) in downtown Austin is a state-of-the-art live music venue that hosts approximately 100 concerts a year. Since 2010, it has served as the permanent home for the taping of the acclaimed KLRU-TV-produced PBS series, Austin City Limits, the longest-running music series in American television history. The contemporary, LEED-certified venue also hosts private events, and is an official SXSW venue. 3TEN ACL Live is The Moody Theater’s smaller, 350-person concert hall, presenting more intimate shows and custom private event experiences. An outdoor terrace is available, and smaller events can also be held on the Music Porch or in one of the galleries.
