There's a reason Austin is often ranked as one of the fittest cities in the country. From cycling to stand-up paddle boarding and hiking to kayaking, the city offers an abundance of outdoor activities. Austin boasts more than 300 parks, including sprawling Zilker Park, home to the beloved spring-fed Barton Springs Pool. The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail downtown skims the edge of Lady Bird Lake for 10 scenic miles. And with 300+ days of sunshine and an average temperature of 68 degrees, being active in Austin comes naturally. Some of Austin’s notable health and wellness companies include Everlywell (a leader in at-home lab testing kits) and Sweet Leaf Tea, plus SXSW hosts a large annual Wellness Expo.

Business Spotlight: YTX Yoga
206 E. Fourth St., Austin, TX 78701
After YTX Yoga (formerly Wanderlust Yoga Austin) founder Ashley Spence suffered a traumatic assault in college that nearly took her life, she eventually found a sense of healing and empowerment through yoga. In 2010, Spence attended the Wanderlust Festival in Lake Tahoe. The outdoor fest is a transformational gathering of yoga teachers and musicians held at stunning resorts in beautiful locations around the world. Besides yoga, the Wanderlust Festival features hiking, food and wine, and concerts. Spence left the festival feeling inspired, and after undergoing yoga teacher training, she convinced the creators of Wanderlust to let her open the first, and flagship, yoga studio under the Festival brand name. Wanderlust Yoga debuted in Spence’s hometown of Austin in 2012.
Today, YTX features two locations, in Downtown Austin and at The Domain. Both studios host a variety of yoga classes in various styles (such as vinyasa and power yoga), including sessions scored by live musicians, workshops, motivational talks and teacher training. YTX teachers offer classes and events that strive to help students tap into their own inner warriors, courage and strength.
