Nonprofit & Community

Since 2007, I Live Here I Give Here has been on a mission to make Central Texas the most generous community in the nation through programs that give back to the community. Its Amplify Austin Day is the biggest giving event in the city. Over a 24-hour period, Amplify Austin brings the entire community together to donate to local nonprofits. In 2022, Amplify Austin Day raised $12.6 million for over 700 Central Texas organizations. The Amplify Austin site can help you find a cause, give on Amplify Austin Day and continue your giving all year long. The site is the go-to resource for individuals and corporations looking to give or get involved with nonprofit and community organizations in Austin.

Business Spotlight: Community First! Village

9301 Hog Eye Rd., Ste. 950, Austin, TX 78724

Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable permanent housing and a supportive community for the chronically homeless in Central Texas. Since 2005, this transformative residential program has been a hallmark project of the Mobile Loaves & Fishes social outreach ministry, which has led an unprecedented collaborative effort to help mitigate homelessness in the city of Austin. It has since become the largest community-based model in the country lifting homeless men and women up off the streets, while also influencing the surrounding community to adopt a lifestyle of service to the homeless. In the fall of 2018, the organization took a significant step with the expansion of Community First! Village. Phase II of the Village is directly adjacent to the Phase I development (covering 27 acres) and added an additional 24 acres – bringing the entire property to more than 500 homes.

Volunteer during Group Serve Days at Community First! Village to encourage corporate team building while working together in the spirit of doing good. A typical Serve Day could entail working in the gardens, dry landscaping yards for micro-homes, laying pathways, tending to chicken coops or goats, and beautifying the property.
